Hey Mr. DJ...

The time has come to put together the do-not-play list, must-play list, etc. I already have a few songs in mind that drive me nuts and I don't want to hear:
  • Brick House
  • We are Family
  • Celebration
  • YMCA

I don't want to limit the DJ too much but I also don't want to fun to end because of a bad song selection. If you have ideas of what is a bad choice, or something you are just dying to dance to, let me know so I can add it to the list.

One must play, for all my favorite Sigma Kappa girls, is "Like a Prayer"...perhaps we can all get up and show off our dance moves together. ;-)

50 days!

Today marks the countdown from 50 days...I can't believe how quickly the days are passing! Invitations are out and only minor details remain so it is really getting close. I cannot wait!

Here is a sneak peak at the invitations, now that most people have received them. (I guess that means it isn't a sneak peak any more...)

Seriously?!

The leak in our kitchen is back, thanks to this messy storm that just won't move off the coast of Central Florida. Seriously, this is the radar now. Doesn't look much different from yesterday, does it? If only we could bottle up the rain and send it to Georgia, where I know my fam and friends could really use it. It would certainly help stop the leak!

Batten down the hatches!

I came home from work today a bit after lunch time because we have been threatened by the latest Tropical Storm of the season, Fay. Such a sweet name for what is turning out to be a stubborn storm that is very slow moving. After the leak in our kitchen, I just hope R patched the roof well enough to handle whatever Fay throws at us!
Just an update...as of 10:15 tonight, Fay is maintaining her stubbornness and has decided to park it right over Central Florida so we are getting dumped with rain. They are saying the storm is "stationary" so the radar below doesn't look much different from the one above from earlier this afternoon.

Slideshow

I spent all day today scanning in photos from the past 27 years of my life (and some from even earlier!) to start prepping for the slideshow I am going to put together for the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. Of course, it took me forever because I actually studied each photo and reminisced about each memory and event. It's tough to limit the amount of photos when so much had happened! It's also funny to see old baby pictures when so many of my own friends are now having babies and starting families. Crazy to think we were all just little ones ourseslves not too long ago. While you'll have to wait to see the entire show, here is a cute pic of me when I was oh so much younger.

A new profession?

With so many pregnant friends, I started wanting my gifts to be a bit more personal than just something off the registry. With the latest birth (congrats Allie!), I decided to make these instead of just buying them...I am pretty proud of the result! Maybe I should quit marketing and go into baby clothes as my next career.
Now, don't be jealous if I haven't gotten to you just yet. If you'd like one for your little bundle of joy, just let me know! I really think this is something I am going to start doing on the side.

New kitchen color

Since our leak in the kitchen has been stopped (R climbed up on the roof and re-tarred the spot that had the hole in it), we now have to patch the wall it damaged. I thought this would be a good opportunity to repaint, since I have never loved the color of our kitchen anyway. While you may think I am obsessed, I am thinking a nice crisp green would look nice. Thankfully, Behr lets you play around with all sorts of rooms and colors on their website, so I did a "play" kitchen with the color I am thinking.
The true test will be how it looks in person. I may have to buy a few colors and start experimenting...

Gifts

R and I have both been scouring the Internet, looking for the perfect gifts for our guys and gals for the wedding. Now, I can't post any of my ideas here in case any of them peek, but I do have a number of items I am trying to narrow it down from. For all they are doing for us, we really want to give them something special to thank them in return. I am very open to ideas and suggestions if you have ever received anything you absolutely loved or would like to get yourself!
I've been a 'maid four times (so far) and have received lovely gifts. Some of them are below (not necessarily in the colors shown).

How to wear the hair...

While you wait with baited breath for the cake sketches (believe me, it'll be worth it!) here are some possible hair-do's I have been finding for myself. I bought two hair pins that I want to tuck into some kind of twist or pile of curls in the back, and then keep my sweep bangs across the front. I am not good at experimenting myself, so I am just hoping I can find a good photo to bring with me the day of. What do you think?

These are the hair pins I bought...paisleys!

Sweet dreams

I got a chance to speak to my cake baker today and shared all of my paisley ideas. She loved it! She is going to work up some sketches and email them to me so we can finalize the design and check one more thing off the list. I can't wait to see them! I'll have to share, but maybe only the ones we don't go with so the real thing is a surprise.

Slacker

I just realized it's been a whole week since my last post. I am a slacker! I guess nothing entirely too exciting has been going on...this weekend has been filled with relaxing and checking things off the to-do list, wedding-related and not. It's been nice to have time to get things done after the month of July was filled with all sorts of social activities. I'll get back to posting interesting things this week, I promise.
